We’ll be gathering Saturday, April 23 from 9:00-Noon to build a Hugel Bed as tall as we can get it. Piling the composted tree chip mulch onto the planting beds will give us extra soil to grow more plants in the small place we have. Hugel beds also help hold moisture so we won’t have to water as often. Big or small, these types of growing beds can easily be made at your home to help grow the very best food available just for you.
After the beds are built we can plant them up with lots of seeds and plants. We’ll grow some plants for Beautiful Day Cafe, some for the beneficial insects, some for fragrance and some for you to come back and pick. If you have any plants or seeds that you would like to bring, feel free.
Wear layers of clothing for when it warms up and bring your gloves and the kids. We have the tools and seeds and water for you to drink. Beautiful Day will provide muffins for a snack.

We’re making hypertufa pots (you can take yours home).
Bring a pot, tub or box not bigger than around 12″ to use as a mold. We’ll have a few to use too.
And we’re planting cool season seeds, checking the temperature and using the compost,
identifying bugs and looking for unusual edibles.
